Community Compact

Accepted Society is an inclusive community for all people: regardless of race, ethnicity, creed, ability, socio-economic status, sexuality, gender expression, gender identity, neurodiversity, political ideology, or relationship to the academy.

In order to foster a sense of connection among our members, there are many forms of communication between individuals including: themed nights, writing workshops, happy hours, accountability workshops, etc. In those events members have the opportunity to connect through spoken and written communication (in the form of private and direct message)

Additionally, we understand that as we build our social network, members may interact with one another through mediums outside of Accepted Society sponsored events, such as personal social media channels and email. We ask that you always carry yourself as a positive representation of what we stand for here at Accepted Society.

As a member of Accepted Society, you agree to:

  • Accept our members, regardless of oneโ€™s ability, race, ethnicity, creed, socio-economic status, gender expression, gender identity, neurodiversity, sexuality, political ideology, or relationship to the academy

  • Refrain from offering unsolicited advice in any form

  • Listen to our members with the intent to understand first, before responding

  • Not comment on otherโ€™s culture, education level, religion, ability, or identity

  • Be willing to learn about things that you do not understand

  • Respect other memberโ€™s preferred pronouns

  • Approach all Accepted Society events with an open mind

  • Not engage in politically divisive conversation

  • Not bully or harass other members

  • Maintain a positive mindset in Accepted Society events

  • Understand that the Accepted Society team wants nothing more than to help foster your growth and well-being, but we are not trained psychologists or therapists. If you need resources, consider checking out Psychology Today as a first step.

Please keep in mind that our communication channels are open to all members of our social network. Although we do our best to monitor our Accepted Society controlled channels, we cannot control communications through direct message or email. Therefore, if you feel uncomfortable about an exchange with another member, we ask that you bring the situation to our attention by emailing admin@acceptedsociety.com.

If you are found breaking a tenet of our community compact, you will be issued a warning via email. Should you reach three warnings, expiration of your membership will be discussed. Although we understand that situations that may arise can be caused by miscommunication, and are not intended with harm in mind, we must treat them seriously.
